Innovate London launched at Design Museum

An audience of 50 people celebrated the launch of London Met’s collaborative European Regional Development Fund project, Innovate London.

Innovate London delivers high quality and cost effective support to enable small and medium size enterprises to innovate, improve business performance and environmental management, with the ultimate aim of improving their bottom line.

The unique collaboration will enables businesses to access the state of the art facilities and expertise of London’s University knowledge base, via three innovation incubators, Accelerator at London Metropolitan University; Business Extra at London Knowledge Innovation Centre (LKIC), and London South Bank University’s Thames Innovation Centre.

The launch was held at the Design Museum in Shad Thames and guided guests through the project’s plan and current successes. The evening commenced with inspirational presentations from Paul Lister, London Metropolitan University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development); Accelerator Manager Graham Hewson; Patrick Blunt, Manager of LKIC; Noel Duncan from Fitness to Live and Jordan Chitty from Naked Creativity who produced the Innovate London brand.

The evening continued with business networking over canapés and a wine reception. The business party then had a guided tour around the museum and viewed some of the current prestigious exhibitions.  As a result of the Innovate London launch, the project has already started working with several companies to helping them progress and take their businesses to the next level.

Based at London Met, Accelerator is a specialist business incubator providing specialised and sector-specific business development programmes for innovative, high value growth businesses in information and communication technology, interactive media, e-learning and design.
