Our academic teaching staff operate at the frontier of their subjects, meaning that you will be taught by experts and take courses that contain cutting-edge material from both theory and practice. The quality of teaching is assessed through the UK Quality Assurance Agency who work with higher education institutions to define academic standards and quality, and then carry out reviews against these standards. Our teaching is rated as 'Excellent' by the QAA, which is the highest possible rating available for a UK University department. Some other Universities are also rated as excellent, while others have a lower rating.

Our Research
The UK Government's Research Assessment Exercise assesses the quality of research in Universities and Colleges in the UK. In research, the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, put the Department in the top 25% of UK Universities for the subject and in a category alongside other major Universities for Economics, alongside other major Universities also highly regarded in research.
