brief biography
After completing his PhD in Economics at the London School of Economics, Dr Girardi taught in Mexico for a year, following which he joined LMBS. He also held lectureship appointments at King's College London and the University of Surrey.
Dr Girardi worked in investment banking, mainly as a convertible bonds analyst, between 1993 and 1995.

Gherardo has undertaken a number of teaching and learning projects which were funded by the Economics Network of the UK's Higher Education Academy:
- Teaching and learning economics through cinema,
- Helping students select their dissertation topics by helping them to identify their motivations, and
- Teaching and learning economics though proverbs from around the world.
Gherardo has presented his pedagogical work at various conferences such as 'Developments in Economics Education' and published in Investigations in University Teaching and Learning journal.
