London Metropolitan University has introduced a new course to supplement their other Aviation courses aimed at Fixed Base Operator (FBO) and Airline Operations Staff. 

Other than the FAA dispatcher training there appears to be little on offer in this area. 

The course will fill a void in the market for the training of all operations staff and is directed at personnel wanting to start a career in aviation, as well as being advantageous to people already employed in this field, who wish to advance their careers further.

The level of training of staff varies vastly from one operator to the next and in a highly competitive market the professionalism displayed by staff can make all the difference to whether a customer returns or take their business elsewhere. 

The aim of the course is to ensure that all Operations Staff have the required depth of knowledge and understanding of aviation.  The course will enable Operations Staff to carry out their role in a more professional and efficient manner, and to be able to communicate with flight crew and other operators in a confident manner.

Being online and totally distance learning based, students may study at a time and pace to suit them.

The course will cover a wide range of aviation subjects such as         
• Introduction to the aviation working environment
• Aircraft Performance
• Air Law
• Flight Planning
• General Navigation
• Ground Handling & Ramp Safety
• Human Factors
• Mass & Balance
• Meteorology
• Operational Procedures
• Principles of Flight

The course has been designed in two parts.  Part 1 is for people new to the FBO job and covers the basics they need to know in the first few weeks of employment.  Part 2 is an extension of Part 1 to complete the training to a much higher level of understanding.  The cost for Part 1 is £350 and for Part 2 is £1300.  Part 2 is for the experienced operator and you do not have to complete part 1 before doing part 2.
