Institute of Credit Management (ICM)

Aims of the course

The world of credit management is an extremely dynamic environment demanding ever-changing skills and knowledge base in areas such as trade, commerce and export credit, as well as related areas such as collections, credit reporting, credit insurance and insolvency practice.

The ICM course is designed for anyone wishing to move into or progress in a credit role. The Certificate and Diploma courses aim to provide a sound understanding of the concepts, processes and techniques that underpin best practice across a range of credit environments. All the subjects are carefully designed to cover topics that are relevant to the credit manager.

Entry requirements

The ICM has an open entry policy. Applicants do not need to meet any age or educational criteria before being admitted to the course. You should contact ICM direct to claim possible exemptions.

Course structure

The ICM Diploma Pathway is a suite of unit awards and qualifications which range from Level 2 to Level 5 - full details are available from the ICM's website.

We provide teaching support for the following qualifications:
ICM Level 3 Diploma in Credit Management
ICM Level 5 Diploma in Credit Management

Level 3 Diploma modules:

  • Accounting Principles
  • Business Environment
  • Business Law
  • Credit Management (Trade, Consumer & Export)

Level 5 Diploma modules:

  • Legal Proceedings and Insolvency
  • Credit Management Law
  • Advanced Credit Management
  • Practical Credit Management Project

Courses are available in three different study formats:

  1. Evening Class, part-time
  2. Saturday Class, distance learning
  3. Online Study, for those students who cannot attend a regular class due to distance or time commitments. Our online option also allows learners to join the programme at any point during the year, rather than just at the beginning of a semester.

Assessment

Assessment is carried out by ICM via examinations held in January and June.

Part-time evening: 15 evenings per subject
Distance learning: 3 Saturdays per subject
On-line learning
Level 3 Diploma in Credit Management: 1 or 2 years
Level 5 Diploma in Credit Management: 1 or 2 years
