Communication Advertising and Marketing Foundation (CAM): Marketing Communications
Aims of the course
The aim is to provide an in-depth understanding of the principles and methods of communication used by organisations to achieve their business objectives. Your CAM Diploma will put you at an immediate advantage by making a statement to employers about your commitment and knowledge.
The CAM Diploma is aimed at people in the development stages of their marketing communications career, looking to improve their skills and enhance their career options. The course is equally suited for people seeking to move into the communications industry as PR executives, Press Officers, brand communications, media relations and event management executives etc (refer to entry requirements below).

Entry requirements
Choose from ONE of the following:
- You have any degree from a university
- You have A-levels in a relevant subject eg business
- You have 2 years experience in communications, eg by working in a charity or government or company communications job
Equivalent qualification from a non-UK organisation may well be acceptable provided students have achieved the equivalent of the above entry criteria. Those with significant communications industry experience, but without the formal qualifications, can apply for special consideration of their circumstances.
Course structure
The CAM Diploma has five modules. There is Marketing and Consumer Behaviour, which is a double module, studied over two evenings per week. The four other single modules are:
- Public Relations (PR) - an awareness of the role of PR in different organisations
- Direct Marketing & Sales Promotion - how these techniques work at operational level
- Advertising - an understanding of advertising and the communications mix
- Integrated Media - knowledge and understanding of the process of media selection, planning and measurement
Assessment
Marketing & Consumer Behaviour, and Integrated Media are assessed by a written assignment. The other three modules are each assessed by a written examination of two hours.
Registration deadlines
Registrations are accepted until the module is full. To be certain of being accepted on to the course that you want, you should send your registration form about three weeks ahead of the class. However, please contact the Course Administrator for updates on space availability. If you are late at registration, we will try to find you space on a course which is not yet full.

Attendance and duration

18 months (three terms). Typically students complete the course in 18 months, most students study 2 evenings a week.
PLEASE NOTE There is no official closing date for this course, but you are advised to apply as early as possible as we will only consider your application if there are places available on the course.
