LMBS support for international students
Welcome to London Metropolitan Business School (LMBS) International web pages! The following information should provide you with all the details you need to begin your studies at LMBS. However if you have any questions please feel free to ask someone as we are here to help you, not just through your first few weeks or term but throughout your whole stay at LMBS.
Please also remember that if you are a non-EU student your visa is dependant on your attendance at university and the university has an obligation to report those students who are not attending. If for any reason you cannot attend, for example, illness or an urgent trip home please inform either myself, your PAA or one of your module tutors. It is very important that you do this!
Jan Bamford, International student Coordinator has overall responsibility for the experiences for students who come to London Metropolitan University from another countries. LMBS offers a range of support services in conjunction with university central departments that are available for all students during their studies at the university. However if you wish to speak to Jan personally you can email her on j.bamford@londonmet.ac.uk, or visit her during her office hours in Stapleton House SH113.
You may also contact country specialists in the international office if you would like to speak to someone who is familiar with your country and/or native language. Please consult the International Office for general details of times and availability.
In addition to the large body of international students at the campuses in London, LMBS has a network of international partners who are involved in the delivery of LMBS programmes abroad, double diploma opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students and study abroad opportunities.
Your first few days and weeks
Again we are here to help you and for some those first few days and weeks can seem daunting and there is an awful lot to get used to! You will also be provided with all the information you need but this can often difficult to take in during your first few weeks, especially when you are adjusting to a new environment, a new country and often a different language! If you are unsure please make sure you speak to someone. There are lots of social activities which you should join in so that you can get to know the other students on your course and the students from other countries. There is also an LMBS international student group on the social networking site, Facebook which is a good way of networking with your fellow students.
