Closure of the LDU & Writing Centre ... and the opening of 'CELT' (The Centre for the Enhancement of Learning & Teaching)

We have received a number of comments from students concerned about the closure of the LDU & Writing Centre.

The University has made a positive decision to include a team of Learning Development staff in a new unit called CELT (the Centre for the Enhancement of Learning & Teaching).

From August 2011, CELT will work with Faculties and courses to help them build academic development and support into their provision.

In addition, CELT will be engaging in some student-facing activities, e.g. providing an Online Learning Development service and assisting Faculties with co-curricular learning development, such as customised skills workshops or student peer mentor schemes.

Our student support includes a range of PREPARING FOR STUDY workshops and courses (See below for more information), running during August and September, and specially designed to prepare new students for University-level study.

The above represents different ways in which students will still be able to obtain guidance with their assignments, but we would also encourage you to explore with your Faculty how you and other students can get involved in discussing with them the study support that you need.
