What can I study?

As a Study Abroad student at London Met, you can choose from a wide range of modules. This page introduces you to the subjects we teach and the information available online about each course.  The next page Search and register for classes explains how to use the Summary List of classes, search the module catalogue and download and complete your registration form.

Study abroad students choose modules from across our teaching provision.  These are the  areas open to study abroad students:

Applied social sciences Fine Art, Media and Design
Art and Theatre in London Health and Human Sciences
Business and all variations on the theme Humanities, Arts and Languages
Computing and mathematics Law, Governance and International Relations
Education Psychology

What are modules?

A module is a class or course, which is one small part of a degree course.  Full time undergraduate students at London Metropolitan University take 4 modules each semester.

One module is usually worth 15 London Met credits = 3 US credit hours = 7.5 ECTS credits.

Are there any module restrictions?

If your home university agrees credit transfer and you meet the pre-requisites for a module, then you can take most modules which are on offer to undergraduate students. However, there are some which are:

Off limits

These are classes which are based around placements or are part of an accredited degree and are therefore not open to Study Abroad students:

Architecture (AD) Sports Therapy (SP)
Civil Aviation (CA) Social Work (SW)
Nutrition (NF) Early Years Teaching (TE)

PG classes not available to undergraduate students.  Module code will be **P***
Foundation classes are not available. Module code will be ***X** or ***F**

Require approval

These are classes which we can probably place you in if you major or minor in this area, and possibly even if you don't.  We seek departmental approval on a case by case basis, so let us know if you're interested.

Performing arts (AP)
John Cass Art Media and Design courses, including Fine Art (FA) and Design (DE)
Some third year practical multimedia classes (SM3* and MM3*)
Some maths (MA) and computing classes (CC, CS, CT, CU)
Health and Human Sciences modules
