Course Information

The JYA is in two parts:

PART 1 consists of two classes which are;


1. English Class (15 hrs p/w)

  • Fluency practise and conversation
  • Letter and short report writing
  • Reading and comprehension
  • Discussion groups and presentations
  • Listening practise

2. British Culture Class (3 hrs p/w)

  • British literature
  • Popular culture
  • Visits to the theatre
  • Visits to museums

PART 2 consists of four classes

1. English Class (3 hrs p/w)


  • Reading and writing
  • Listening and speaking

2. Academic English Class (3 hrs p/w)

  • Essay writing and report styles
  • Research and self study skills
  • Understanding lectures
  • Academic presentations

3. Subject Class

  • Choose from 50 foundation classes from 6 areas
  • Choose from 677 undergraduate classes from 12 areas

4. Subject Class

  • Choose from 50 foundation classes from 6 areas
  • Choose from 677 undergraduate classes from 12 areas
