Undergraduate Programme of Study

Summary List of Modules (work in progress - no date of completion available)

(Interim lists can found further down this page)

Please note: you may only choose modules from the Summary List of Modules - no other class choices will be valid unless you are requesting science classes. Please read the instructions carefully!

From September 2012 most of the undergraduate modules at LondonMet will be changing to a year-long format. This means that the modules will begin in September and run all the way through the year, ending in May, to be followed by examinations. This is especially true of first year modules so there will be little or no provision for semester students to take first year classes (400 level).

Some faculties will be offering semester-long modules in the second (500 level) and third (600 level) year as well as the opportunity to take half of some year-long modules and receive half the credits for it (if passed). If the possibility does exist to take half of a year-long module then you must check in which semester it will be offered (autumn, spring or both) and whether the syllabus being taught in the semester you attend will be relevant to you.

Assessment during the autumn semester will typically be by coursework and during the spring semester will normally be by examination. The autumn semester will finish at the end of January so any topics taught up to this time may be included in the assessment.

John Cass Art and Design faculty will not be offering any semester modules at all so if you wish to take any modules from this department you will have to stay for the whole year.

The Summary List of Modules lists all the classes scheduled to run in the coming semester which may be taken by Study in London students. This will allow easier selection of modules than using the entire online catalogue.

You will need to take 30 ECTS (60 LondonMet credits) per semester or 60 ECTS (120 LondonMet credits) per year. For students staying for a year this may be made up of single-semester modules (7.5 ECTS), half of year-long modules (7.5 ECTS) or year-long modules (15 ECTS). Therefore, students intending to stay for only a semester need to check that the possibility exists for them to take four classes comprising single-semester modules or half of year-long modules.

N.B. Only validated halves of year-long modules will be available to single semester students. You cannot attend a year-long module for only a semester and receive the credits for it unless it has been validated for early exit / late entry.

Interim lists of modules

As module lists become available they will be added here. Once all modules are confirmed for 2012-13 a Summary List will be compiled.

Interim List All Faculties 2012-13 (90% complete. Modules will be added once confirmed)

Which level of module should you choose?

There are three different ‘module levels’:

  • C - Certificate level - first year modules (400 codes)
  • I - Intermediate level - second year modules (500 codes)
  • H - Higher level - third year modules (600 codes)

As a Study in London student you can choose modules at any of these levels, as long as your home university approves the choice, and you have already covered the material taught in any ‘prerequisite’ modules listed.

Which modules are not available?

These are classes which are based around placements or are part of an accredited degree and are therefore not open to Study in London students:

  • Social Work (SW)
  • Architecture (AD)
  • Civil Aviation (CA)
  • Early Years Teaching (TE)
  • Nutrition (NF)
  • Sports Therapy (SP)
  • PG classes are not available to undergraduate students.  Module code will be **P***
  • Foundation classes. Module code will be ***X** or ***F**
