Immigration and Arrival Advice

International support team

International support team

The international support team at London Metropolitan University is here to assist current and prospective international students and London Met staff by providing expert advice and comprehensive support.

International advice

We provide advice and guidance on immigration issues whether you're thinking about joining London Met, you're a current student or have recently graduated from the University. We can advise on issues including Tier 4 and short-term study visas, family and dependants, and also the current rules on working during and after your studies.

All of our advice staff are fully trained and operate to the Office of the Immigration Service Commissioner (OISC) regulation level 2. In addition to immigration advice, our team offers welcome inductions to new international students, training for staff and arrange events for our international students throughout the year.

You can contact us via email, attend a one-to-one session or come to one of our regular workshops.

The advice service is regulated by the Immigration Services Commissioner.‌

International Programmes Office

London Met welcomes visiting international students who would like to study with us for one or two semesters and return with academic credit to their home university. The International Programmes Office administers these study abroad programmes and liaises with our partner universities overseas. We also look after exchange opportunities for London Met students and staff, including the operation of the Erasmus scheme.

For further information, please see the Study Abroad programme (for international students) and the Study in London programme (for European students).

Sponsor compliance

The points-based immigration system and its ever-changing requirements mean that protecting and maintaining our license to sponsor international students under Tier 4 of the points-based immigration system is a priority for London Met. Our team has a wealth of experience in UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) procedures, guidance and audits, and are on hand if you have any queries relating to sponsorship under Tier 4. The team also works with internal departments on a consultancy basis regarding Tier 2 sponsorship and other work routes.

The team works closely with other departments throughout the University on student experience, retention and monitoring requirements.

Visa Compliance

The Visa Compliance team is responsible for enrolling international students subject to immigration control and assessing their correct fee status. In order to meet sponsor monitoring duties, the team monitor Tier 4 students’ course and work placement attendance throughout the year, safeguarding the University’s attendance policy as well as processing Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) applications for continuing students. The team also regularly assist students by processing intermission and withdrawal requests.
