Scholarships for September 2014

We are delighted to announce a selection of scholarships offered to international students for September 2014.
Date: 17 January 2014

London Metropolitan University’s International Office is delighted to confirm that it will be awarding a selection of postgraduate full tuition fee scholarships to international students from a variety of countries continuing the enthusiam of the late International Office director, Mark Bickerton for giving back to the international student community. Mark was a great advocate of our scholarships and firmly believed in giving back to international students who contribute immensely to our learning environment.

We offer scholarships jointly with renowned organisations such as the BBC World Service and International Students House. Hamid Ismailov, head of BBC World Service Central Asia says, "This is an excellent programme which will encourage young journalists from Central Asia and give them international exposure at one of the world's most respected broadcast organisations, the BBC."

The University not only recognises the contribution that international students bring but is also proud to recognise prominent figures in different national histories. We offer scholarships such as the Dr Muhammad Shahidullah scholarship for Bangladeshi students, the Professor Hessaby Scholarship for Iranian students, the Dr Murtala Muhammed Scholarship for Nigerian students, the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship for Indian students and the Forward China Scholarship for Chinese students.

Other nationalities that are given scholarship opportunities are Vietnamese, Tibetan, Uzbekistani, Russian, Turkish, Kazakhstani and Indonesian.

Alex Malley, head of student recruitment at the International Office says;

“The Scholarship Programme for international students presents a wonderful opportunity not only to the successful individual, but also for the University itself with former scholars going on to be some of our greatest ambassadors as they progress in their chosen professions. The immediate as well as the longer-term value of such programmes to all parties will hopefully confirm their continuation for many, many years to come!”

All applicants must be in receipt of an unconditional offer before making the scholarship application. The deadline for September 2014 entry is 30 April 2014.
