Scholarship terms and conditions

This information is for those students awarded The Cass Scholarship from London Met

The scholarship panel decides who will be awarded the scholarship based on the application submitted. The decisions are based on a combination of the personal statement, academic achievements, references, evidence of voluntary work done, etc included on the Scholarship application form. The scholarship panel decisions are final.

The scholarship is open only to students on the Two Year Full Time MA Curating The Contemporary course at London Metropolitan University

Reasons for not being awarded a scholarship are not provided, as resources do not permit.

The period of time the scholarship is offered for is clearly stated and not extendable.

The scholarship is for the ONE named person

All scholarship students should be in good mental and physical health and must advise the scholarships office of any medical conditions they may have.

Please note that when requested scholars are required to show originals (not photocopies) of transcripts and documents submitted in evidence with their scholarship application, and present these to the Scholarships office, if there is any question of authenticity. If, after checking, we discover any documents that are NOT 100% genuine, the scholarship award will immediately be invalidated and withdrawn. The University accepts NO liability in this case.

It is the scholar's responsibility to set a good example, e.g. strive for best results, attend classes, finish the course on time and continue to demonstrate the exemplary student attributes/grades by which he/she was awarded the scholarship.

All scholars should finish their course on time and only authorised postponements (requested in advance from the relevant Academics, scholarship office and Director) will be considered and only in exceptional circumstances, and for a valid reason. Delaying handing in a dissertation or course work is chargeable and this therefore deprives another student from being awarded a scholarship as this costs the University funds which are not budgeted for, therefore, this is not advisable. If a scholar delays in handing in assignments or course work (i.e. dissertation, etc.) to complete their course, they may be responsible for paying any additional charges, as requested.

The University is only able to defer a scholarship on one occasion and only when formally requested by the scholar to the Scholarship office, with a valid reason for this and only if circumstances merit this decision being taken will this be granted.

The University likes to celebrate its' excellence and will be requesting to interview you and arrange for you to have your portrait taken by the University photographer (usually on the day of the Scholarship Evening or in exceptional circumstances this may be arranged separately). Scholars are expected to co-operate however, if one wants to 'opt out' they may, by writing to scholarships@londonmet.ac.uk and advising us of the reason and an exception will be considered.

All scholars agree to allow us to share certain data (name, course, student ID number, institution, etc. as required) with other parties within the University.

We may also use information collected regarding the scholars in our University's Marketing activities; however, students' addresses and telephone numbers will not be given out without permission from the student, via a request from us.

We may feature your interview/photo/profile/story on the London Met website and/or other University publications and will normally ask for your permission/approval prior to publishing this.

The University reserves the right to utilise this information in the promotion of the University and in any other student recruitment and/or Scholarship promotion activities.

All scholars will take part in welcoming new scholars to the scholarship programme by attending scholarship evenings, etc. when invited.

Students are allowed to work part-time, in accordance with their visa conditions, to help support themselves during their studies. The University provides an excellent Careers guidance service and students interested in finding out information on jobs available, interview tips, employment opportunities, etc. should take advantage of this service by visiting them at: /student-services/careers/current/home.cfm

The University reserves the right to investigate and possibly withdraw a person from the scholarship programme, if there is adequate proven evidence of serious allegations of illegal activities discovered.

The University reserves the right to make reasonable changes to this contract at any time and will advise valid scholars if this occurs, as and when required.
