Amit said: "In Nov. 2005 I qualified as a Chartered Accountant and was working full time with Ernst and Young. However, in spite of working for four years and having a good accounting background I had this strong inclination towards studying further. When I looked at the prospectus of London Met I found that the University had tailor-made courses which suited my purpose exactly. I was looking at all possible schools in the UK including the top ten schools and more specifically in London. London Met came as a natural first choice since it offered the right mix between high quality education and affordable fees. I am proud to say that not only did my application to join the University get selected but I was also offered a 100 per cent academic scholarship.
My Experience at London Met: I joined the MSc International Banking and Finance course in February 2006. The first thing that impressed me about the University was the quality of tutors that we have on the course. London Met also has cutting edge technology in situ, like Bloomberg, and this helps to give students a taste of how things are done in a live environment. Topics, such as structured products and introduction to fixed income markets have proven to be extremely relevant to the current job market requirements. The overall attitude of the University has been very positive and helpful and I am very pleased that I took the decision of studying at London Met.
My Job: I will be joining at an Associate level within the Global Equity Derivatives Pricing Team of Duetsche Bank. I will be working closely with the front office and supporting the trading desk by looking at the valuation of trades that are undertaken by the bank, being a fresh candidate this comes as a great opportunity. The interview process was very rigorous, since the other candidates mostly came from the top 10 universities in the UK. However, thanks to the quality of my London Met course and the constant guidance provided by my tutors, I was selected.
