Ariadna Bakhmatova from Kiev, Ukraine, was awarded one of 14 Postgraduate Scholarships (awarded to students from developing countries), which will see London Met paying the full tuition fees for her Masters in Communications Management degree.
For Ariadna, who became an English teacher in 2004, this is a once
in a lifetime opportunity to study for a degree in London and add to
her cache of education achievements, which include a BA (Hons) in
Philology and a distinction in English from Kiev National Linguistic
University.
Ariadna has also volunteered as an interpreter with the Committee
of Voters of Ukraine, as a journalist for the Centre for Youth
Initiatives, and for a number of non-governmental organisations. She
has also completed an internship at the AIESEC, the world's largest
student organisation and international platform for young people to
discover and develop their potential to make a positive impact in
society.
Of her diverse experiences, Ariadna said: "I undertook an
internship program in Poland in 2006 and I’m also fond of oriental
culture and have studied belly dancing since 2005. I also worked as an
interpreter for OSCE/ODIHR International observers during presidential
and parliamentary elections in the Ukraine from 2003-05."
Ariadna’s also said: "I am so pleased that I have been awarded a
Graduate scholarship to study MA Communications Management at London
Met and that my personal statement and transcripts, confirming my
excellent academic achievements, helped to demonstrate to the
scholarship panel my worthiness of such an award which I am so pleased
with. This scholarship will also benefit Ukraine as I hope to perfect
my public relations activities in Kiev upon completion of my Masters."
