"I did my BSc in Project Financing at Tashkent Financial Institute and graduated in 2004. I studied a range of subjects at undergraduate level, relevant to the proposed Master's programme in International Business that I wish to specialise in. These have included, amongst others, Economics, Management, Finance, Marketing, Financial Statistics and Project Investment Analysis.

This academic background has given me a sound knowledge of International Business and Finance, and has endowed me with a range of highly practical skills, which I believe have benefited me in my pursuit of an MA International Business at London Metropolitan University.
My dissertation for my final year project is entitled 'The Role of Discounted Cash Flows Method in Estimating Investment Efficiency'. This focus has given me an insight and experience into the methods used in project design, data collection and interpretation, and improved my analytical and diagnostic skills.

The MA International Business course, has also provided me with a chance to examine and learn patterns in global business and further developed my interest in issues such as Investment Prospects and Problems in the emerging Markets, as well as the role of the IMF, World Bank, OECD and other European and World-wide institutions in addressing those issues. This further increased my interest in the subject and I have decided to read further on to postgraduate level.

In particular, the subject of developing the Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the private sector in emerging, transition markets has really attracted my interest. The development of such SMEs sector would help address problems, such as the creation of new jobs and the resolution of unemployment problems, the development of a middle class society, and the improvement of real income of the population and it's well-being. These can adapt to market changes very quickly and favourably, and such businesses don't require too much capital to set up. Therefore, in my dissertation, I evaluated the application of "discounted cash flow" methods in estimating efficiency of investment flows. Because it bears favourable results that apply to "discounted cash flow " methods in the financial evaluation of such small enterprises. Since " discounting " methods are much preferred for their accuracy in estimating the value of investments over certain periods of time.

My work experience with Tadbirkor Bank, and National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan has given me a useful insight into banking and finance. I worked on performing financial analysis of companies, preparation of financial projections, and participated as part of the team in project implementation, as well as providing administrative and analytical support in specific areas of project monitoring. I also carried out the investment appraisal and the projects' financial and economic evaluation, based on well-known UNIDO methods.
I am fortunate enough to get a London Met Scholarship Award for the year 2006, and I thank the London Met scholarship panel (and since I've arrived and gotten to know them, especially Mark and Denise) for this opportunity. I enjoy meeting all the different people from the diverse backgrounds and cultures as it is essential as part of the learning curve. London is a fantastic city, truly international. The pace is very fast and I struggle to find the time to do everything I'd love to do!

I believe that reading for a Master's degree in International Business at London Metropolitan University will equip in me both theoretical and empirical knowledge and the skills about international business and free market practices at a profound level. I would have the advantage of benefiting from the University's rich resources and research centres such as the Centre for International Capital Markets, the Management Research Centre and it's very encouraging to learn of the University's "Excellent" rating in Economics, Business and Management.

There are many extra curricular activities in London and I love this. At Tashkent Financial Institute I was a member of the Students’ Union and I organised events and conferences of guest speakers for the Union. I also played as a forward in the Youth's Division of the premier league football team 'Pakhtakor'. Football, boxing, tennis and wrestling are the most popular sports in Uzbekistan. Our football team achieved first place in Tashkent and I'd like to get involved in football here, as well, if I can find the time.

I would like to return to Uzbekistan and work for one of the multi-national financial institutions and hope my qualifications put me in a good position to accomplish this goal."
