"I think my educational background and work experience, combined with my extensive volunteer work I did during my university period, shaped me into the person I am and helped me to obtain the opportunity of a scholarship studying at London Met.
I was awarded a First class Honours in my BA (Hons) in Journalism and Mass Communications from Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand in 2002 with a GPA 3.6 (Major Broadcasting). After this I started my career working in the Public Affairs department as an Administrative Assistant in Dow Chemical (Thailand) and handled some corporate social responsibility. After this, I changed jobs a few times to work in 2006 for around five months at DHL Express International (Thailand) Ltd. in the Communications Executive/Marketing Department. I worked in Public Relations and supported local publicity activities to create newsworthy public relations for the company working in collaboration with the PR Agency.
When I was in the university, I worked with the Rotaract Club and was the President of the Educational Advice Camp Project in my third year. We prepared a group of students aged 8 -12 and we advised them on the courses available at High School level and encouraged them to continue their studies. I feel that Education is fundamental to one's life and by gaining more education one can also make a better contribution to one’s country and society, as well.
I also took care of the athletes in 'The Asian Games' and helped the gymnasts, despite not speaking their language! I also worked with two blind judo athletes from Australia in 'The Fespic Games' and found this challenge interesting and a worthwhile experience.
Being and studying at London Met enhances the worldwide perspective and international opportunities for my future careers. Soon, as part of my course, I will travel to Poitiers, France and study for four months and I am really looking forward to this. We will be doing core modules: Marketing Research, Marketing Communications, Service sector Marketing, International Brand Management, International Advertising, Public Relations and Corporate Strategy, in English which is fantastic. I will also be doing my work placement for the four months when I return to London as well, which is a great benefit of this course.
In the future, I would love to have my own Marketing and Communications company and I will focus on this in my dissertation. I will also consider teaching, as I believe I've learned a lot about good teaching techniques and practices here at London Met and ESCEM (France). I'd like to introduce this type of forward and progressive teaching in Thailand, if possible.
I think you need to have a good attitude, theoretical and practical knowledge and here at London Met one can and does learn so many multicultural behavioural aspects and how to communicate with other people. London Met, also being in the heart of London, offers many opportunities to meet new people from all over the world. The high standards of education here at London Met made it my first choice of University. This course is also unique in that I'm not sure any other university in London offers it and it really is a fantastic course with great tutors and professors and I'm very glad that I was given a chance to come and study at London Met."
