MA in International Relations

BA Digital Media

"Before coming to the UK to pursue my second masters degree, I had instinctively realized that I had a passion for journalism. My first degree in mass communication from Pakistan had allowed me to explore various arenas of media and communication in a global context. But I needed more; I wanted to attain a well-rounded education in international journalism that would keep me up-to-date with industry requirements and with the ever-changing political world.

Professionally, I began my career by contributing to various newspapers and magazines, organising news reports and conducting research projects for various TV channels and finally producing documentaries of my own. This was challenging work that helped me secure a year's scholarship. My dream to study abroad in the world's most cosmopolitan city was realised thanks to the University's scholarship scheme for international students.

London Metropolitan is unique when it comes to rewarding international students for their talents; it provides fertile grounds for academic growth. Moreover, it offers a truly multicultural experience — a place where people from all over the world meet in pursuit of education. London Met is also known for its extra-curricular activities and social events, where students are encouraged to develop their minds through social interaction.

I am currently planning my dissertation on the United Nations as an ambassador of the southern countries, whilst also working for the University's South Asian Students Network as a Media Coordinator. The University also employed me in Student Support Services, where I learnt more about the useful careers' service offered to the students. In the future, I would like to continue producing documentaries and write on issues that concern our political community. I hope that other students are encouraged to apply for scholarships to realise their complete potential… As the saying goes, even the impossible is possible."
