Scholarship student February 2005,
MSc, Software Engineering from Nepal
"I studied in Bhirahawa, Nepal and I did my 'A' level equivalents (Intermediate in Commerce) in Delhi and I got my I-Com certificate in 1998. After I finished this, I got the computer bug and worked for MAC Gallery International and I started in Sales then I moved to Software and Hardware troubleshooting on Macs and PCs then I progressed to Administrator. In my spare time I worked with the Childwelfare scheme in Pokhara dealing with under-privileged children and staff. I came to London in 2001 and started my ABE Advanced diploma and did my BSc in Information Systems at Middlesex and was awarded a Distinction. In February 2005, I came to London Met and did my Masters in Software Engineering.
I was very impressed with the teaching and facilities at London Met
and the lecturers such as Christina Davis, Boris Coogan and Na Helian
were excellent, too.
For my dissertation I will be researching Data mining and looking
at how the information is collected and can be better utilised for the
benefit of the customer and the company. Price changes, product changes
and promotions can be targeted better and cross-product promotions that
are more relevant to the customer; leading to less wastage of paper and
retention of the customer.
I'm thinking about doing my PhD in Data mining, perhaps, but I want to get some experience first. I would hope to come back to London Met to do this, too, as I've had a great experience here."
