Chevening Scholarship
LLM Human Rights
The Gambia

"I got a LLB Hons Law degree from Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, Essex in 1997. I also did a BL (Barrister at Law) at Sierra Leone School of Law in 1999. I then worked as a Lawyer in the State Law Office at the Gambian Attorney General's office until March 2006 when I was advised that I was awarded the British Council Chevening Scholarship to study LLM Human Rights at London Met.

I think that my good leadership qualities, my results at university combined with my work experience in government helped me to get a Chevening scholarship. It is essential that everyone is aware of their Human Rights and I hope to be able to further assist the people of The Gambia when I complete my degree. I'm always amazed that many people aren't aware of their human rights and I hope to encourage them and sensitise them on their rights.

I'm happy that I've been given this scholarship to study in London and I'd like to thank my sponsors, the Chevening programme, through the British High Commission in The Gambia and London Met for this opportunity."
