Chevenening Scholarships

The Chevening Scholarship Scheme is funded by the UK Government's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and provides financial assistance to students from over 109 countries worldwide to study in the UK. Over 2,000 Chevening scholarship places are supported each year by the FCO, mostly for postgraduate study or research. The Chevening scholarship scheme is an open competition and candidates are selected according to academic excellence, leadership qualities and in line with a list of educational and development priorities for your home country.

The British Council in your home country handles applications, with successful candidates being chosen by the relevant British Embassy or Consulate.

Deadlines are usually the end of November, for students wanting to start their course in the following September.

The Chevening Scheme covers the tuition fees for postgraduate students, so the scholar pays NO tuition fees for his/her course. To go directly to a page that gives details of the countries specific requirements and contact details and to apply for the Chevening scheme, please click here.
