Merit scholarships

FROM SEPTEMBER 2011 THE MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE TO NEW STUDENTS

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS are available for all international fee-paying bachelor degree students studying at London Metropolitan University. 

This scholarship is designed to award hard-working students achieving academic excellence with high grades and results.

If you achieve an average mark of 70% or higher in your 1st or 2nd academic year, and you are a continuing international bachelors degree student you will receive a Merit Scholarship

  • The Merit Scholarship is a £1,000 reduction from your tution fees (£1000 maximum if you studied full-time, and pro-rata or a lesser amount if you studied part-time).

  • This is an automatic scholarship awarded by the university - you DO NOT APPLY for this scholarship.
  • The scholarships are awarded once a year in September
  • The scholarship only applies to the 1st year and 2nd year of study (ie if you achieve 70% or above in your 1st year you will receive a £1000 discount in your 2nd year and if you achieve the same in your 2nd year, 70% or above, you will receive a £1000 dicount in your 3rd year).
  • Merit scholarships apply only to international students continuing on an undergraduate bachelors degree course.
  • They do not apply to students progressing from a London Met undergraduate degree to a London Met postgraduate course, but you are eligible for a 10% Alumni discount.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I ACHIEVE 70% or ABOVE IN AN ACADEMIC YEAR?

  • If you are eligible for a MERIT SCHOLARSHIP you will have receive a personalised Merit Scholarship Certificate posted to your home address.

The Scholarships office will also list all the student ID numbers of all the successful students on the Merit scholarship webpages.

 

IMPORTANT

  • You need to keep your Merit Scholarship Certificate safe, as you will need to show this to our Finance department
  • When you pay your fees you will need to show your certificate so the amount can be deducted from your tuition fees.

 5% Discount

Starting in the Autumn Semester (September)

A 5% discount is available if annual fees are paid in full by or at enrolment

Starting in the Spring Semester (February)

A 5% discount is available if annual fees are paid in full by or at enrolment

NB: The discount is calculated on the fee after the scholarship amount is deducted. So, for example, if you are  paying fees of £9600, you would take the £1000 merit schoalarship off first and then the 10% early bird discount.

If your name is not on the list, but you believe it should be, you need to email your name and student ID number to the Scholarships Office  and we can check your records to see if you are eligible for a Merit Scholarship
