Merit scholarships
The University operates a Merit Scholarship scheme for all international fee-paying bachelors degree students studying at London Metropolitan University. This scheme is designed to reward hard-working, international fee paying, bachelor programme students who gain excellent results. Congratulations to those students achieving high marks.
Please note the major change for students starting in September 2006 or later: If you are an international fee-paying bachelors student, that achieves an average mark of 70% or higher in the 2008/9 academic year, and are continuing as a bachelors student in 2009/10, you will receive a Merit Scholarship of UP TO £1,000 (maximum if you studied full-time) pro-rata or a lesser amount if you studied part-time. Continuing London Met students enrolled prior to September 2006 will continue under the previous rules.
Merit scholarships are given as a fee adjustment that will be processed to your fee account to reduce your fee. To obtain an early payment discount, you should pay the full fee by the required date. Any fee refunds which result from a previous payment of fees by scholarship students will be paid in December.
Merit scholarships apply only to international students continuing on an undergraduate course. They do not apply to students progressing from a London Met undergraduate degree to a London Met postgraduate course, who will be eligible for the 10% Alumni discount.
PROCESS:
If you meet all the Terms and Conditions and your name is on the 08/09 Merit scholarship list, you will have received a personalised Merit Scholarship Certificate posted to your home address. Congratulations! You should keep this safe, as you will need to show this to Finance when you pay your fees so this amount can be deducted from your tuition fees.
Remember, if you pay your fees in full before 1st September, you should also be entitled to a 10% early bird payment discount and 5% discount if paid in full before 13 October and you will need to show this Merit Scholarship certificate to Finance to benefit from the award discount on your fees, so keep it safe as we can only provide it once. The discount is calculated on the fee after the Scholarship amount is deducted. So, for example, if you are getting a £1,000 Merit Scholarship and paying fees of say £8200 you would get an early bird discount on £7200, not £8200.
If you have any other queries, please refer to the web page Merit scholarships - terms & conditions (on the right hand side menue on top of the page).
If after you've read all the above information you have any queries or your name isn't on the list, but you believe it should be, you should email your name, student ID number and your enquiry to mailto:scholarships@londonmet.ac.uk?subject= and they will investigate and advise in due course.
CONGRATULATIONS to those who have been awarded a Merit scholarship.
