Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. What do I need to do to apply for a scholarship?
Before you may apply for any of London Met's scholarships, you must
have applied to study on a course here and be in receipt of an
unconditional offer letter (for all new students).
2. What is an unconditional offer letter?
An unconditional offer letter is a letter you should receive from
the University if you've applied to study for a course, have been
accepted and offered a place to study with no conditions attached.
3. What is a conditional offer letter?
A conditional offer is one with a condition (or more) attached. An
example of this could be that you need to provide evidence of a
qualification or of your English or Maths abilities, as requested in
your offer letter.
4. How do I apply for a scholarship?
There are two ways in which you may apply. Via the Word application form which you download, print, complete and return by post to us, or via the online electronic method at: https://www.londonmet.ac.uk/secure/application/$application.cfm. Please read the instructions and guidelines carefully before you apply.
5. I applied for a scholarship but haven't heard if I got one?
We receive thousands of applications each year and are unable to
reply to all. If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be advised by
email or by telephone within three weeks of the closing date, then a
formal letter will be sent to you to confirm all the details in
writing. We will also publish the results of those awarded a
scholarship on our website under the heading 'Recently awarded
scholarships' so you should visit this website page if you want to see
the results printed.
6. How do I know if you got my scholarship application form?
If you apply online, you will automatically receive a confirmation
email from London Met with a copy of your scholarship application form
attached, for your records.
7. What if I don't apply online?
Our office deals with all recruitment services, not just
scholarships, so if you apply in the traditional manner (via post), you
will only get a confirmation of receipt if you've requested this.
8. How may I request this?
If you do require a confirmation of receipt of your scholarship application form, you may email scholarships@londonmet.ac.uk
and kindly request this. Our office deals with student recruitment
activities and we are very busy. Your query will be answered normally
within 3 working days, but please be patient especially in peak periods.
Thank you.
9. How many scholarships are awarded each year?
Around 150 scholarships are awarded each year, including Merit scholarships.
10. When are scholarships awarded?
The scholarship panel awards academic scholarships twice a year. In
May for September entry and in November for February entry.
11. When are Merit scholarships awarded?
Merit scholarships are normally awarded by October for continuing,
undergraduate, international-fee paying students achieving 70% or higher average. The results are
published during the month of August and are visible on the website
under 'Merit Scholarships'.
12. If I continue to postgraduate studies may I still get a Merit scholarship?
No. Merit scholarships are unfortunately not for postgraduate
students. However, if you continue on to postgraduate studies as a
London Met student, you will be eligible for a valuable and worthwhile
'continuing London Met student discount'.
13. Does London Met welcome Chevening Scholars applications?
YES.
14. I would like to continue my studies do you have any Research degree funding available?
London Met's Graduate School research office are responsible for administering the University's applications for research scholarships. Please go to our Graduate School's webpage to find out about PhD and Reseach degree funding.
15. What if my unconditional offer letter is linked to a pre-sessional course? Will London Met pay?
If you've been fortunate enough to have been awarded a scholarship, please note that London Met will not
pay for any pre-sessional courses that may be linked or attached to
your course offer and you will be responsible for paying this element.
For example, you may be awarded a scholarship to study MSc Business
Economics and Finance, on the understanding that you first do the
pre-sessional English course, if there are doubts about the standard of
your level of English. In this instance, you will need to pay for the
pre-sessional course, and London Met would pay for the Masters (or MSc
course) as this is what your scholarship was awarded for, not the
pre-sessional course. Please note that Short courses and English language courses,
Foundation Programmes, HND's and pre-Masters degrees are not covered by
any of London Metropolitan University's Scholarships.
16. Can I bring my family with me?
Please note that London Met can not and will not be responsible for
family members (spouse, children, parents, etc.) and those students who
have been awarded a scholarship are well advised to not bring family
members with them, unless they are fully willing and able to provide
the care and financial support required by these individuals.
If you have any further questions, please READ the information
on the website, then, if you still can't find the answer you may email:
scholarships@londonmet.ac.uk with your enquiry and you will receive an
