International (non-EU) students Alumni and Family bursary
1. 10% reduction in postgraduate tuition fees for all students who have a bachelors degree, HND, Foundation degree, masters degree or PG Dip from London Metropolitan University or any of its predecessor institutions
2. 20% reduction in postgraduate tuition fees for all students who achieve a FIRST CLASS degree or distinction in an Undergraduate degree (Bachelors Degree) from London Metropolitan University (or any of its predecessor institutions)
3. 10% reduction in all bachelors, masters, PG Diploma and doctoral tuition fees to any overseas fee-paying student who has a:
Mother
Father
Husband
Wife
Son
Daughter
Brother
Sister
who is a student OR an alumni of an undergraduate degee (Bachelors Degree , Foundation Degree or HND) or postgraduate degree (Masters Degree or Postgraduate Diploma) from London Metropolitan University (or any of its predecessor institutions).
NB: The reduction does not apply to any course of duration less than six months (e.g. many English courses, short courses)
For the Family bursary, you will need to provide proof of the relation such as birth certificates/passports or a marriage certificate. For the Alumni bursary, this is applied when students confirm payment during enrolment as our finance department will check eligibility on the student's record. Please ensure to mention which bursary you wish to be applied to your tuition fees.
Country Scholarships
This only applies to all new international full-time fee-paying students from September 2010 onwards who are enrolled at the University.
£1000 pounds reduction in tuition fees for all students who are from any of the following nationalities:
- Iran
- India
- Pakistan
- Bangladesh
- Nigeria
- Sri Lanka
- Vietnam
- Malaysia
- Ghana
- Zimbabwe
- Mauritius
- Kenya
- Tanzania
- Uganda
- South Africa
- Nepal (New international full time fee paying students from September 2011)
NB: This applies to all courses of 6 months or more except for English courses. Therefore this does not include PreMasters or PGCerts, but the International Foundation Programme is included.
Undergraduate Merit Scholarships
FROM SEPTEMBER 2011 THE MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE TO NEW STUDENTS
£1000 pounds reduction in tuition fees for all international students who study:
- Bachelors degree
and achieve an average of 70% plus in any one year of study.
- Students would qualify for a £1000 pounds fee reduction in the subsequent year of study on the same course
- This applies to all students, new or continuing, who are enrolled at the University
- For part time students, the amounts are pro-rata
Thus, a full-time bachelors student who achieves 70% or more average in year 1 of their course will receive £1000 reduction in their second year
A student who achieves 70% plus average in their final year does not receive this reduction for any subsequent study.
However, such a student would then qualify for an alumni scholarship.

Tuition fee reductions through partnership arrangements
- Students joining the University through agreed partnership arrangements will qualify for a £1000 fee reduction.
- This applies to all international fee-paying students enrolled on campus on any course of more than 6 months duration (for PreMasters the reduction is £500), where the student has been identified as coming to us through one of our agreed partnerships under this scheme.
- At present, these are limited only to partnerships with Chinese Universities.
Multiple scholarships/bursaries
Any individual student can qualify for one or all of the above fee reductions/scholarships/bursaries
For example: an undergraduate student from Kenya who has a brother also studying with us will receive 1000 pounds off, followed by 20% off.
- The percentage reductions always come off after the amount reductions.
Full Scholarships
For September 2011 the university is providing:
- 8 total international student scholarships including accommodation per year for scholarships click here
- 20 new international postgraduate (taught) scholarships (tuition fees only per year) for scholarships click here
- Students in receipt of a Chevening and Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Scholarships will receive a 20% reduction in fees.
Prizes
All students The University Awards Board will award graduation prizes to a number of students on the basis of academic excellence.
