Stephen Dzugwahi Birdling - Nigeria
MA in Cities, Design and Regeneration
I am from Nigeria. I previously worked with a multinational construction company for three years, and thereafter worked on a development project funded by the World Bank and African Development as a project engineer/architect for nine years before joining London Metropolitan University. The uniqueness of the course content met my specific desire for renewal and change, which the course addresses with the practical contents of the programme.
I enjoy the support and the confidence the university imparts to its students. There are diverse programmes here to meet various needs, which I think is unique compared to other institutions. The lecturers are outstanding — they are experienced, and are always ready to support their students.
Regeneration is quite a unique and dynamic field, and it is important to me to have found a degree that addresses the diverse socio-economic and design problems of urban areas. My future plans are to further develop my experience in regeneration based in the UK, and ideally then transfer the lessons I have learnt to Nigeria, which also has serious urban problems. I have been already been invited for two interviews.
