Recent Film Successes

Current students visit London Film Festival and Cass Alumni find success abroad.

London Film Festival

Level 4, 5 and 6 Film and Broadcast Production students recently visited the BFI London Film Festival to attend screenings and take part in special events as part of the education programme.

The students attended screenings for ‘A United Kingdom’, a British biographical romantic drama directed by Amma Asante. ‘Moonlight’, a coming of age film which chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami, and ‎’Queen of Katwe’, an American biographical sports drama film directed by Mira Nair.

Students also had the opportunity to attend a panel focussing on the future of Virtual Reality, and to meet industry professionals for advice. The students were enthused by their visits and said it has taught them more about the different professional crafts within the creative industries.

Medici: Masters of Florence

Cass Film and Broadcast Production alumna Colette Pacini recently worked as a Production Assistant on Medici, Masters of Florence, a TV series starring Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, Cinderella) and Hollywood legend Dustin Hoffman.

The political family drama Medici Masters of Florence aired for the first time in Italy on 18 October 2016, broadcasted by RAI TV and will soon be made available online on the RAI TV website.

Since graduating Colette has also worked on Anita B, by award winning director Roberto Faenza and a TV spot with Gravity Director Alfonso. Colette interviewed Cuarón as part of a student project while at University and has since kept in touch.

UCLA Los Angeles

Film and Broadcast Production alumni Lambert Grant has been awarded a place on the MA in Cinematography course at UCLA Los Angeles.

Lambert a French national, was intent on studying in the USA and planned his portfolio, making several short films with peers to ensure he had enough for his showreel. He was Director of Photography on 'Stay Still' and 'Missing', which was selected for the BFI Futures Festival. Lambert says he is very excited, but as the youngest on the course he also realises he is very lucky to have a place.
