Head hunting as a career

Guest lecture for BA HRM students

Date: 21/04/2015

Winnie Chung from Aylin White ran a lunchtime careers session for BA HRM (Human Resource Management) students on head hunting as a career. Winnie explained the differences between high street recruitment agencies, specialist contingency recruitment services and executive search firms. She outlined the role that a head hunter plays, focusing on the skills and attitudes needed. She stressed the need for good communications and listening skills, being commercially astute and having good organisation abilities. Winnie also explained that careers in the industry required recruits to be self-starters and target driven. Recruits also need to be persistent and resilient.

Winnie is a current student on our MA HRM programme. After her presentation Winnie spoke to BA HRM students personally about following a career in head hunting with a view to interviewing them for a role – a real opportunity to improve their employment prospects.
