Aviation Society hosts public lecture series

Laurie Berryman, Emirates Vice president, United Kingdom and Ireland visits the University.

Date: 18/05/2016

On Tuesday 3 May 2016, London Met's enthusiastic Aviation Society invited Laurie Berryman, Emirates Vice president, United Kingdom and Ireland to the University. The lecture started off with a fun facts aviation quiz where students and staff were competing against each other. Laurie Berryman was very pleased with the students’ knowledge about the industry. Berryman has over forty years in the aviation industry, and was pleased to discuss the industry today and to debate on the hot topic of runway expansion. The students ended the session with 15 minutes of questions and answers.

Khalid Elkhazmi, President of the Aviation Society said “It was great welcoming Laurie to the University once again and hearing his perspective on the latest issues concerning aviation, here in the UK and abroad. Laurie has been with Emirates from its very early days and has seen it grow into one of the world's largest and most successful airlines. It is very beneficial for us students to draw on the experiences of those in the industry and it is very interesting to hear the different perspectives on hot issues in the industry.”

The monthly guest lectures not only provide our students with different viewpoints on critical issues, such as the heated runway expansion debate, but also exposes us to leaders from within the industry and provides us with insiders' thoughts and insights.
