The day after the government announced the results of the spending review Guildhall hosted a public lecture on How to win productivity stakes - Is it too late for the UK? The lecture was delivered by our experts in the industry and Honorary Visiting Professors Mark Beatson and Vicky Pryce who set out their view on what the government can do to increase productivity back on an upwards trend.

To a very interested audience Mark and Vicky analysed past government policies, as well as drawing upon their past experiences of advising Ministers on the topic as senior members of the Government Economic Service. Dean Perkins who was at the lecture said “they presented a tour de force unpacking issues around the perennial challenges the UK economy has been tackling in improving productivity.” The mixed audience of students, lecturers and guests had many questions and comments resulting all in all a stimulating event full of theory, facts and opinions.
