The International Live Events Association (ILEA) , formerly known as the International Special Events Society (ISES), provides networking and educational events and opportunities all over the world to bring together professionals in the events and other industries. It aims to be a creative, dynamic and forward thinking association that creates opportunities for event professionals to meet with their peers who share the same values and commitment to the industry.

Layla Armstrong, a second-year Events Management BA student, is part of the Program Committee at ILEA. Layla became a member in October 2015 after a guest talk from the ILEA in one of her lectures, when she got in touch with the operations manager to see if they needed any help.

Layla started off at the front desk, checking people in and working on the door. She then started attending their networking events, saying, “I was so nervous as I had never been to a networking event before and didn’t know how to approach people, but I got introduced to fellow students and graduates. It's now a year later and I'm part of their Programmes Committee. ILEA has provided me with connections that can be there for life, helping and supporting me into the events industry. ”

Here at Guildhall, our students regularly receive guest lectures from industries which give them an opportunity to get involved and network for new opportunities.
