Dr Bruce Pilbeam is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations, and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). His main teaching and research expertise is in the areas of Peace and Conflict Studies, Comparative Politics, US Politics and UK Politics. Bruce is also the Course Leader for the International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies BA (Hons) and the Peace, Conflict and Diplomacy MA. Dr Bruce Pilbeam

Bruce has a BA from Warwick University and a PhD from Sheffield University. He joined the University in 2005 and as a Senior Lecturer his core teaching is in the area of peace and conflict, both theory and practice, including international conflict resolution. He also teaches in other areas of politics and international relations. Bruce is Course Leader for the International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies BA (Hons) and the Peace, Conflict and Diplomacy MA. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
Bruce's main teaching and research expertise is in the areas of peace and conflict studies, comparative politics, US politics and UK politics. At present, Bruce leads the modules Peace and Conflict in Theory and Practice (Level 5), Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding (Level 6), The Politics of Modern States (Level 6) and International Conflict Resolution (MA). Bruce also oversees the International Relations MA and Peace, Conflict and Diplomacy MA dissertation modules.
Bruce's publications include Conservatism in Crisis? Anglo-American Conservatism after the Cold War (2003), together with articles in journals such as Political Studies and the Journal of Political Ideologies. Bruce is also co-author of the textbook International Security Studies, (first edition published 2015, second edition 2020).
Dr Pilbeam also regularly attends conferences and symposia, at which he often presents papers. For example, Bruce recently presented papers in 2016, at conferences in Bulgaria and Moscow, on the topic of Britain and the EU, with particular reference to Brexit.
