Our Online Journal
- We are delighted to announce that the following new members have joined the Editorial Board for the Journal Family Law and Practice:
Professor Julian Farrand QC (Co-Chair with Professor Peter de Cruz)
Clare Renton, Barrister, 29 Bedford Row
Julia Thackray, Penningtons, Solicitors
We are glad to have our first practising Barrister member and a second Solicitor, both practising in Family Law in London, and welcome Professor Farrand’s extensive dual academic and practitioner experience. Professor Farrand has had a distinguished career in academe and practice, providing the perfect example of the interface between these two worlds which it is the Centre’s mission to exploit. He was one of the first Solicitor QCs, Dean of the Law School at Manchester University, a Law Commissioner (at the same time as our Patron Baroness Hale) during the years of significant Family Law reform in the 1980s, Editor of the journal The Conveyancer, Ombudsman for both Pensions and Insurance, and has for some time edited the leading practitioner text Williams on Title besides remaining an Emeritus Professor at the University of Essex and a Solicitor with a practising certificate.
- The first issue previews the themes of our inaugural conference of the Centre, held on 30 June to 2 July 2010, with articles from leading experts in International Child Abduction, Forced Marriage and Relocation. With the exception of the Lord Justice Thorpe (and of Dr. Marilyn Freeman who contributes an articleon the important Supreme Court Case of Re I) the authors are drawn from the small number of such experts who were unable to be in London on the conference dates.

- Issue 2 (with a theme of Relocation), Issue 3 (devoted to International Child Abduction) and Issue 4 (which majors on Forced Marriage) can be read in the protected members' area, and Issue 5 (which contains some interesting material from our Child Law Summer School) will be uploaded shortly.
