CASEP news and events

• CASEP, along with the Centre for the Study of Religion, Conflict and Cooperation, will host a conference on Religion, Civil Religion, and the Common Good at London Metropolitan University on 20-21 June 2012. Keynote speakers include Prof. Ronald Beiner (author of Civil Religion: A Dialogue in the History of Political Philosophy, CUP, 2011) on "Secularism as a Common Good", Dr. Patrick Riordan (author of A Grammar of the Common Good: Speaking of Globalization, Continuum, 2008), and Prof. Timothy Chappell on "Delivering the Goods". There will also be panel sessions. If you would like to present a paper, please see the call for papers.

• Congratulations to Dr Marian Kuna, CASEP Postdoctoral Fellow 2010-12, for being elected Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters at the Catholic University in Ruzomberok, Slovakia. Marian assumed office in January 2012 and will remain in post until December 2015. We hope Marian will still find time for research.

Visiting Research Fellow Dr Tolis Malakos will be leading a research project on "Dasein as αληθευειν: An Aristotelian reading of Heidegger’s Being and Time" in 2012-13.

• CASEP, along with the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice, will host the sixth annual conference of ISME, the International Society for MacIntyrean Enquiry, at the University of Nottingham from 18-21 July 2012. This will preceded by the second annual conference of the Contemporary Aristotelian Studies specialist group of the Political Studies Association, on the 17th.

• CASEP plans to establish a journal of Contemporary Aristotelian Studies. The journal will be edited by Timothy Chappell, Ruth Groff and Kelvin Knight, with the support of a working Editorial Committee and a large, international and interdisciplinary Editorial Board of world-leading Aristotelian scholars.
