BA International Law and International Politics

The undergraduate degree in International Law and International Politics (ILIP) makes use the full range of expertise in the Faculty of Law, Governance and International Relations (LGIR), giving students access to legal, political and international issues and frames of analysis.

The programme has a core of modules that provide a solid base of the theory and practice of law and politics, as well as an appreciation of the institutions and history of international relations. Running alongside the academic core are modules that assist students in the development of academic skills - including research and writing - and help them to prepare for post-graduation careers - including guidance on writing a CV and making a job application.

In addition to the academic core, students can choose to take modules from a wide range across the Faculty such as: American Foreign Policy; African Politics; Political and Economic Development in Pacific Asia; Politics, Religion and Terrorism in Asia; Women and Law; Environmental Law; Criminal Law; Civil Liberties and Human Rights.

Students are also encouraged to take internships and work placements, and to study a foreign language as part of their degree.

The ILIP student body is international and brings a wealth of experience and perspectives to class discussion. This is a new degree programme, only just entering its third year, and we are keen to have feedback from students to help us develop the course. We have already created new modules in response to student interest and expect to continue to adjust the provision to make it more engaging and dynamic.
