BA International Development
This course takes a multi-disciplinary approach to patterns of development, examining human development in its international context from a variety of perspectives including economics, international relations, sociology, gender studies history and politics. The wide variety of options for students reflects the breadth of the specialist interests of academics teaching on the course. This means that we are able to offer wide-ranging and expert analysis of key trends in this field: that of swift-growing economies in Asia, including China and India, and poverty-focused approaches to development.
The course places a significant emphasis on development in practice with a final year, development-related work placement (either in Britain or in the developing world) and options on NGOs and development administration.
Students also benefit from several relevant research institutes and centres based in the LGIR Faculty, and one of the largest International Relations Sections in London with a unique programme in Peace and Conflict Studies.
