Role

Senior Lecturer in Translation Technology

Rocío’s areas of teaching expertise are Translation Technology, Audiovisual Translation, Scientific and Technical Translation and Localisation (English-Spanish). She holds a PhD from the University of Granada, focused on spoken Spanish in dubbed and domestic situation comedies. Her main research interests lie in the fields of Localisation and Audiovisual translation, especially in dubbing. She is also interested in the study of Spanish colloquial spontaneous conversation and its imitation in fictional dialogue.

In the field of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, her main interests lie in blended learning and e-learning, and in how technology can be integrated within the existing curriculum.

Rocío has also taught Spanish as a foreign language and has worked as an in-house and freelance translator, both in Spain and the United Kingdom. Due to this background, she is interested in CAT tools in general, and in any technology that could be incorporated into the translation process. She has published articles on audiovisual translation and translator training, has presented papers at international conferences and she has been invited to give talks on her research area in seminars and workshops in British and Spanish universities.
