In her role as International Co-ordinator she is involved with academic affairs of international students in the department, and creating and maintaining contacts with universities in various countries. Her research and publications are mainly in the field of migration studies, focusing particularly on biographical and collective memories of ethnic minorities in post-war Germany and Britain. She was co-researcher on the DFG-funded project, "Germans in post-war Britain", which was primarily concerned with the recruitment politics of Germans and their work and life experiences in the UK - the research led to the publication of two monographs.
Inge has co-organised several conferences, such as "European Immigrants in Britain 1933-50" (2000, German Historical Institute, London) and two international conferences on the theme "Beyond Camps and Forced Labour - Current Research on Survivors of Nazi Persecution" (2003 and 2006, Imperial War Museum, London).
