About the International Foundation Programme

The International Foundation programme runs from late September to June each year for all subject pathways.

The programme consists of specialist subject modules together with English language and learning support modules.  

Depending on your English level, you will take at least one of the following:

  • Foundation English: writing; listening; reading and speaking skills for university study; Relevant vocabulary and grammar.

  • Foundation Studies: Study skills; Reading and research strategies; Essay and report writing; giving seminars; reflection on learning.
  • Foundation Studies Plus: Study skills; critical thinking, analytical and reflective skills; Essay writing; giving seminars.
  • Academic Research: Research skills; small scale research projects; report writing; questionnaires, graphs, tables etc; presentation skills (individual and group) through presenting research findings to the class.

Your remaining study will consist of specialist subject modules according to your chosen pathway.
