Sandra’s main area of research and teaching expertise is in the field of dyslexia tuition and assessment.

Her research has primarily focused on aspects of tutorial support, IT support and dyslexia assessment.

Sandra was a Fulbright Scholar in 1980 and researched Language Across the Curriculum in both the UK, with the assistance of the British Council, and in the USA. She was the Course Leader for Secondary English in the Teacher Education Programme at Macquarie University, Sydney over two contracts in 1981-84 and 1992-97. Between these contracts she worked for the Department of Technical and Further Education in NSW in Adult Literacy.

Since coming to the UK to live permanently, Sandra has retrained in the area of dyslexia. She has worked in the Inner London Probation Service, Uxbridge College, Thames Valley University and London Metropolitan University in various positions from lecturer in dyslexia, to dyslexia co-ordinator. In 2004 she moved to Education as Course Leader for the PGC: TADLHE. She has also started a limited company, Mind Aligned, through which she conducts dyslexia assessments, tutorial support, IT support and workplace support.

Sandra has authored and co-authored many articles and presented many papers related to her field at National and International Conferences and worked on projects such as ATTRAIN for the European Union. She recently edited and contributed to Study Skills for Dyslexic Students, which was published by SAGE in 2007. Also in 2007 Sandra was awarded a Learning and Teaching Fellowship by London Metropolitan University.  Since 2009 Sandra has written and taught the Module, Supporting Adults with Specific Learning Differences, in Singapore, as part of a partnership between the University and the Dyslexia Assocaition in Singapore to offer a full MA SpLD in Singapore, validated by London Metropolitan University.
