Peter Lewis (Senior Lecturer Community Media) will present a paper to the Community Communication Section of the IAMCR (International Association of Media and Communication Research) at Stockholm on community media policy in London. This compares the London policy vacuum with more positive support for the 'third sector' to be found in Budapest, Cardiff and Stockholm. Contributory research from these cities has been funded by the John Cass Art Media and Design RCF, which also funded a meeting on community media policy held at Ladbroke House on June 18. He is also chairing the session 'Citizens and Alternative Media'. |

Salvatore Scifo (Lecturer Community Media) will present a paper on 'Contemporary Tensions in UK Community Radio Practices' in the session 'Bottom up Talk: Community Broadcasting, Local Policies and International Connections' and chair a session on 'The Internet and Community Media Practices'.
