We have an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach to our research in FASS. Our researchers make significant contributions to the social, cultural, economic and environmental spheres across a broad range of work, from the areas of anthropology, child and woman abuse studies, community development, criminology, evaluation research, mass communications, media theory and practice, information and knowledge management, public health, regeneration, housing and planning, sociology and social policy, social work, and trades union studies.

We have research partners across the globe, partners in the UK, as well as in London and in the local communities that we serve. Our activities involve collaborations with the public sector, with the NHS to the Home Office, work with Research Foundations such as The Rowntree Foundation, as well as charities and the voluntary sector.

Our research has also been translated into practical applications that transform lives and make a real impact on society. Our research has been applied to innovative training projects, manuals for best practice, tailor made short-courses, and has informed Government policy.
