Psychology Research

Research in the department is mostly focussed into two research groups. The Counselling & Health Research Group and the Cognition, Development and Education Research Group.

Staff in the Health Related Research Group are involved in a number of projects including, nutrition and obesity in school children, autism, health complaints in patient populations, post-traumatic stress disorder in children and adults, mental health and offending, addictive behaviour, the biological basis of sex difference in task performance, and eating disorders.

The Cognition, Development and Education Research Group includes researchers investigating reasoning judgement and decision making, teaching and learning in higher education, cognitive processes in drawing and reading, psycholinguistic analysis of speaking and reading, the development of visual memory, executive functions and attention and theory of mind in children and adults.

Other staff are involved in research related to occupational, forensic and social psychology.
