Alumni
Alumni can already
- Use the Libraries, but I’m afraid for reference use only, and we are already exploring how we could expand this / enable access to online journals but there are licensing issues, as we have access to journals for educational purposes only
- Gain entry to alumni events and seminars: 2009 -10 programme of seminars can be viewed here
- Access to Careers support for three years after graduation.
- Discounts on postgraduate courses
- Membership of the gym at discounted rates
Life Sciences could provide
- Tailored CPD events
- Training in the use of equipment that we have in the Science Centre
- Health and Safety training
- Use of our accommodation (particularly out of term time)
- Analytical services
- Consultancy Services
We have been involved in Knowledge Connect and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, and have expertise in submitting applications for funding for these
What you could do for Life Sciences
We are looking to support our current students in an increasingly competitive job market, and so we would welcome any of the following
- Feedback on our curricula
- Talks to students on the CV writing, application and interview process and possibly your own experiences of this either as a new graduate yourself, or as an employer
- Feedback on draft CVs / covering letters
- Practice interviews
- Shadowing opportunities
- Mentoring support
- Placement opportunities – long or short
