For staff

Services for staff
The Writing Centre is committed to work not only with students but with the whole London Metropolitan University community. In particular, we work with staff who are interested in how writing can be used to support learning, and who would like help and guidance in designing their modules or developing their teaching practice in ways that facilitate student learning and achievement through writing. Many modules already have a writing component, of course, and we can work with staff to introduce simple techniques and learning practices which will help students succeed in their writing tasks.
Writing-in-the-Disciplines (WiD)
The Writing Centre promotes collaborations between subject-based specialists within departments and the Writing Specialist to facilitate academic literacies and writing instruction to students within their disciplines. This Writing-in-the-Disciplines (or WiD) initiative aims to boost students’ academic performance and is becoming increasingly important in the current, highly competitive educational environment.
To date, we have worked closely with colleagues from the departments of Psychology, Design, Film Studies, and the Business School on redesigning modules so as to incorporate writing development.
Dr Peter O’Neill, lecturer in Academic Writing, is co-editing a book entitled Writing in the UK Disciplines with Dr Mary Deane of the Coventry University Centre for Academic Writing (CAW). Please contact him if you would like more information about this project.
Writing for Publication programme

The programme offers:
- Sessions approximately every 4 weeks facilitated by staff of the Write Now and LearnHigher CETLs
