Early Years Professional Status
What is EYPS?
Early Years Professional Status is a new initiative designed to provide and support excellent curriculum leadership in early years provision and services. Early Years Professionals are key to raising the quality of early years provision. They will lead practice across the new Early Years Foundation Stage, support and mentor other practitioners and model the skills and behaviours that support and safeguard children.
It is the Government’s aim to have an Early Years Professional in all Children’s Centres offering early years provision by 2010 and in every full day-care setting by 2015.
The Early Childhood Studies Scheme Team at London Metropolitan University are delighted to be able to offer all four pathways towards Early Years Professional Status. This new area of provision complements our existing portfolio of early years courses and will be embedded within our existing programmes to ensure that we can offer a high quality progression route to early years practitioners throughout the region.
Participants will join a diverse and highly motivated learning community of early childhood practitioners. The University was the first in the country to offer higher education training opportunities to those working with young children, whatever their educational background
