Why Faculty of Computing

The Faculty of Computing is a wonderful place to study because we place the development of your knowledge and skills at the heart of our vision of technology as a means of transforming and improving careers and lives.

As our student testimonials show, we provide an excellent teaching and learning experience, delivered by dedicated staff using state of the art facilities and methods to enhance your employability.

Our Teaching

Our teaching is delivered by a team of experienced, highly qualified and enthusiastic academics. Our dedicated Personal Academic Advisers support undergraduate students throughout their study. In addition to lectures, tutorials and practicals, subject specialised support is provided to students via virtual and face to face help sessions. We place great emphasis in responding to student feedback. Our student satisfaction ratings in Mathematics for example are among the highest in the UK.

The quality of our teaching is assessed through the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), who work with higher education institutions to define academic standards and quality, and then carry out reviews against these standards. In our most recent Institutional Audit the QAA concluded that they had 'broad confidence', the highest level of commendation, in the soundness of the University's current and likely future management of the quality of its academic programmes and the academic standards of its awards.
