Laboratory of Applied Computer Science and Technology

Applied computer science aims to develop practical solutions to some key technological problems of the 21st century. LACOST’s members expertise is in the following areas:Professor Schagaev, head of LACOST

    Computer science:
  • future computing paradigm, models of computations
  • system software design (languages, run-time systems and their elements)
  • hardware design
  • complex systems designs and models
    Safety critical systems:
  • theory of active control systems, also known as damage prognosis theory
  • main hardware blocks (memories, processors, internal interfaces)
  • system software for parallel and fault tolerant systems
  • distributed structures (including control reconfigurable aircraft networks)
    Advanced computer architectures:
  • parallel computers architectures (design, development, prototyping)
  • fault tolerant computers and their main elements. See Professor Schagaev's Devices
  • embedded computers for wearable, satellite and medical applications
    Applied math:
  • methods and models to analyze performance and reliability
  • new segments of graph theory and logic theory
  • dependency matrices and their applications in aerospace, control systems
  • semi-Markov models and their applications in economics and computer science
  • joint graph and logic models and their derivatives
    Economics and system analysis :
  • new models of life cycle monitoring
  • feedback models, MP, SMP, GLM

Above-mentioned research currently being progressed includes rigorous design of curriculum for engineering and computer science disciplines
