KMRC Grants and Projects
KMRC built extensive research experience following their involvement in a large number of funded projects by the EU, EPSRC, Department of Environment, Teaching Company Schemes, Knowledge Transfer Partnership and private companies.

Previous funded Projects:
KMRC teams have successfully completed several Knowledge Connect and London Development Agency funded projects including:
- interactive virtual training for Good Vibes;
- a Mobile-based proactive anti-obesity system for Cal2Cal;
- a search engine optimisation tool for SD&S;
- training strategy software for SPRINTWARE;
- an online CV filter and bespoke psychometric testing facility.
KMRC is also collaborating with the University’s Library Services to integrate library management systems with virtual learning environment.
Below are some of the funded research projects where members of the Knowledge Managment Research Centre have been involved:
- ARISTOTLE project (commercial prototype) for the development of computational and neural network enhanced web search engine
- VIGILANT2 project (further development) for enhancing CCTV video surveillance with intelligence to recognise (suspicious) event.
- AUNT-SUE and VISIT (EPSRC funded 2007-2009) for the development of knowledge enhanced urban design models for better accessibility and user needs in transport for sustainable urban environment
- ISHTAR (EU FP5 funded 2003-2006) for the development of decision support system for evaluating the impact on human health and heritage building of transport noise and air pollution
- NCEUB (EPSRC Network 2005-2008) for analysing human behaviour data for the development of new norms and standards for indoor climate and design guidance for building controls which enhance thermal comfort of building occupants and mimise energy use of buildings
- VIGILANT1 project (private funding) for enhancing CCTV video surveillance with intelligence to recognise (suspicious) event.
- Teaching Company Scheme project (1999-2000) for enhancing AUTOCAD 12 systems with object technology.
- CBRefurb Project (EPSRC funded 1993-1995) for the development of a case based expert system for estimating the cost of refurbishing buildings
- OSCON (DOE funded 1995-1997) for the development of integrating construction information models and distributed databases for managing construction projects
- CONDOR Project (EU ESPRIT 23015 funded, 1997-1998) for the development of standards for construction document management.
