Microsoft IT Academy
The Faculty of Computing is a proud member of the Microsoft IT academy
The Faculty of Computing is proud to be recognised as a member of the Microsoft IT Academy. The membership enables the faculty to offer its students selected Microsoft qualifications, and staff will benefit by gaining access to instructor resources and Microsoft e-learning resources, lesson plans and subsidised courseware.*
The Microsoft IT Academy program enables academic learning institutions to connect the world of education to the world of work by enabling faculty and students to acquire new technology skills in an academic setting. Microsoft IT Academies benefit from world-class Microsoft curriculum and cutting-edge software tools to experience real-world challenges in the classroom environment.
Professor Dominic Palmer-Brown, Dean of the Faculty said "This is a good development. It is the kind of programme that we need to be engaging with more and more, to enhance our students' career prospects and to optimise the marketability of our courses." Dr. Yanguo Jing, the
faculty's co-ordinator for Microsoft IT Academy, said "I am very excited for our students to have the opportunity of gaining Microsoft qualifications alongside their degree. This will allow them to link academic learning to real world job skills, increase their employability and stand out in a competitive job market. It will also give colleagues a great opportunity to embed Microsoft technologies in their curriculum and offer short courses."
We would like to thank Paolo Barone from Microsoft UK and Rhys Hine from Prodigy for their support.
